Be good, Dish Brush

12 months ago we started using the Be Good Dish Brush. The handle is made of bamboo and the brush head & bristles made from recycled plastic. The brush has been used every day and yes after a few uses the outer bristles stood out so we took the scissors to cut them (see top brush). The brush has still lots of live in it and it's quite amazing that it lasts that long. How wonderful! We absolutely love our brush and it's not only environment friendly but it also looks great in the kitchen.Let's do a wee comparison: For the Be Good dishbrush you are looking at an investment of $11.90, it has last...

Bamboo Toothbrushes

It has been a while since our last blog...Beginning of February me and my daughter opened a new toothbrush and wrote the date onto the brushes. This was out of pure curiosity as I really wanted to know how long my toothbrush would last, as well as our daughter's one. Brushing along each day, completely forgot about the wee note at the bottom of the brush. I realised this morning that we have been using the same brush again and again for exactly 5 weeks. And, they are still going strong. Not only the adult brush but the kids brush too. Can you remember how long a kids brush lasts from the super...

Well, I have to say that those string bags remind me of my teenage years back in Switzerland. Can you feel that Spring is in the air? Still cold mornings but beautiful days. I also spotted the first pollen on our car. Which made me think that it is that time of the year again to wake everything up from the "winter sleep"...Our wooden deck has been cleaned by using Oxygen Bleach. The Oxygen Bleach is made of 100% Sodium percarbonate which is the most environment friendly option available. As an indication only - for a deck the size of 20m2 we recommend to use 8 liters of water and 2 cups (~200g) of Oxygen Bleach). Use lukewarm water in a bucket, add the bleach and start cleaning the dec...

Me personally am not much of a blogger but in this case I'd like to write about this fantastic product. It seems a bit weird to write about such a simple household item, but I feel like it's worth spreading the word. For years we've been using these cheap-as blue coloured wipes you buy from the supermarket. They always bothered me as they are not really that absorbent and when you squeeze em out, it feels like they disappear in your hand. They always went smelly quickly and had to be replaced nearly every week. Now with our new organic cotton dish cloth I finally feel like having a proper wipe...

Bokashi

Are you struggling to keep the little animals away from your compost heap? We have been using the amazing Bokashi compost system for years now and still think this is the best system ever. There is almost no smell as the food scraps are fermenting rather than breaking down, keeps all the scraps airtight in the bin and when the whole content gets buried into the garden all the nutrients get released and the plants can feed on them. So easy to handle, and it can be used in every household. If you don't have a lot of space around the house use it in pots or/and ask your friends to supply them with...
