Empty Blister Packs - Zero Waste Box™

The Empty Blister Packs Zero Waste Box is used to recycle any brand of empty medicine blister packs.

The Zero Waste Box™ system is the all-in-one recycling solution from TerraCycle® that can be used by everyone to recycle everything. A perfect option for any home, school, or business looking to have a positive impact and reduce their waste being sent to landfill.

The use of the No Separation Zero Waste Boxes is the easiest way to recycle almost everything in your home or office. Simply put all your non-hazardous, non-recyclable and non-organic household waste into this box, then send it back to TerraCycle. Once TerraCycle receives your box everything inside will be recycled.

What can be included the in the Empty Blister Packs Zero Waste Box:

• Any brand of empty medicine blister packs
• Blister packs must not have originally been destined for disposal as clinical or hazardous waste
• Blister packs must not have come into contact with biological contaminants e.g. from within an operating or treatment environment

Please note: Any medicine and medication residue including tablets, pills, lozenges and caplets as medicine should be returned to a pharmacy for safe disposal. Boxes received that contain tablets will need to be diverted to Energy from Waste (and therefore may not be recycled).

Cardboard, paper and any other types of waste other than empty medicine blister packs.

Any other medicine containers such as bottles, inhalers or sprays.

Hazardous waste (for example sharp, flammable, reactive, corrosive, ignitable, toxic, infectious or pathogenic) which presents a danger to the environment, or to people. Batteries, pressurized canisters, broken glass and medical waste.

How does it work?

Please choose the size box you would like to purchase. When you receive your box, fill it with the appropriate waste streams. Once full then ship your box back to TerraCycle using the pre-paid shipping label which is already affixed to your box. When we receive your box, we'll safely recycle all of the collected materials.

How it is recycled?

Everything collected through the Zero Waste Box system is sorted and processed into raw materials. That can then be reused instead of being sent to landfill. 

How are the different types of material recycled?

PLASTICS
Plastics are separated by number, melted down, and turned into pellets that can be moulded and extruded to produce new products.

METALS
Metals are separated by type and smelted into ingots for reuse.

GLASS
Glass is cleaned and sorted by colour for processing. It is then crushed and melted to be used in new glass products.

ORGANICS
Organics are composted or used in industrial and commercial fertilisers.

FIBERS
Fibers will be hydropulped to separate out wax or plastic coatings. The separated fiber will be recycled into new paper products, or composted if recycling is not possible. Any resulting plastics will be recycled into plastic polymers.

FABRICS
Textiles are sorted by type and are recycled, upcycled, or reused as appropriate. Textiles of mixed fibers are converted to energy. Natural fiber textiles (cotton) are turned into a "shoddy" or insulation. Synthetic fiber textiles (polyester) are pelletized and made into new plastic products.

ELECTRONICS
Electronics collected for recycling, also known as e-waste, are mechanically and manually separated into metals and plastics. Salvageable materials are refurbished and reused. All data is wiped, but we advise restoring your device to factory settings before sending it in.

CIGARETTES
Cigarettes are shredded and separated into plastics, papers, and organics.
