Our organic lavender essential oil is extracted through steam distillation from the flowers of organic lavender plants.

Lavender oil, also known as Lavandula angustifolia, is extremely popular in cosmetics, perfumes, and aromatherapy. The oil has a light floral aroma and ranges from pale green to yellow in colour.

Native to the Mediterranean region, the Middle East, and parts of Africa and Asia, lavender is believed to have been discovered around 2,500 years ago. Traces of lavender have been found in ancient Egyptian and Roman sites.

Traditionally, lavender oil was used for perfumery and in bath water. In Ancient Greece, lavender essential oil was utilized for embalming practices. Lavender oil was also a popular perfume in Ancient Egypt and was used for its fragrance in washing and bathing in Ancient Rome. The 20th century saw a rise in the popularity of lavender essential oil in southern Europe.

In the 1930s, French chemist René-Maurice Gattefossé famously used lavender essential oil to treat a burn on his hand, leading to a surprisingly quick healing process. This experience inspired him to publish the book “Aromathérapie: Les Huiles Essentielles, Hormones Végétales.”

Today, lavender essential oil is one of the most popular and recognizable essential oils. It is used to relax and soothe the mind in aromatherapy and is prized in the cosmetics industry for its distinctive scent.

Our steam-distilled lavender essential oil is frequently used in cosmetics and perfumes for its familiar floral scent and skin benefits. It can be found in body butters, creams, moisturizers, and body sprays.

Lavender essential oil is particularly popular for use at bedtime to induce sleep and is used in aromatherapy for its mood-lifting, relaxation, and sleep-promoting benefits.

There are also claims that lavender oil possesses anti-inflammatory properties, can treat sunburn, and relax muscles. However, there are not enough studies to substantiate these claims. Beyond these potential benefits, lavender oil continues to be a beloved natural ingredient that brings a sense of calm and well-being to any setting.
