Certified home and commercial compostable to recognised New Zealand standards, these liners break down in approximately 90–180 days under proper composting conditions. Good to know: composting needs oxygen, moisture, and microbial activity to work its magic. Landfill has none of these, so these bags won't break down properly if they end up there. They're made for the compost bin, not the rubbish bin.

I'm very happy with the performance of these bin liners. I use them to line my kitchen compost bin to avoid scrubbing the bin :-). They decompose quickly in my compost pile. Will be buying them over and over again.

They are designed to break down in a composting environment and will not break down adequately if sent to landfill, so for the environmental benefit to apply, they need to go into a home or commercial compost system, or a council green waste/food scraps collection that accepts them.
Yes, despite being compostable, they're designed to be tough enough to hold rubbish securely without tearing or leaking, so there's no need to double-bag them.
