Body Wash & Accessories

Natural alternatives include dried luffa (the fruit of the luffa plant, fully compostable), sisal fibre mitts, and cotton wash cloths. All lather well with natural soap or body wash bars and can be washed and dried between uses. Luffas and sisal mitts biodegrade at end of life; synthetic shower puffs do not and shed microplastics during use.
Store the bar in a draining soap dish or on a soap saver bag between uses so it dries out completely rather than sitting in water. A bar that dries between uses lasts approximately twice as long as one left in a wet soap dish. Keep it away from the direct flow of the showerhead.
Natural loofahs can harbour bacteria if left damp, the same as any bath accessory. Rinse thoroughly after use, wring out moisture, and hang to dry completely between uses. Replace when they start to smell or deteriorate, typically every four to six weeks of daily use. Soak in diluted white vinegar weekly to maintain hygiene.
A sisal mitt is a bath glove made from natural sisal plant fibres. It is used for body exfoliation and lathering soap or body wash during showering. Sisal provides gentle but effective exfoliation, improving circulation and removing dead skin cells. It is firmer than a loofah and better for dry brushing. Rinse and hang to dry after use.
Some natural soaps are gentle enough for both face and body. However, facial skin is more sensitive and has different pH and oil balance needs than body skin. A soap formulated specifically for the face, or a gentle unscented soap, is preferable for facial use. A dedicated facial cleanser bar or gentle clay-based face wash is better for daily face washing.
