Soapnuts are:
People in India and Nepal have been doing their laundry and cleaning with Soap nuts for hundreds of years. Soapnut is the dried fruit of the Ritha tree and the saponin released is a 100% substitute to normal detergents.
SoapNuts can be used for washing clothes, dishes, cloth nappies, as a liquid soap, cleaning and shining ornaments, household cleaner etc. They are highly-effective and gentle and leave your laundry fresh and clean. Suitable on all fabrics at all temperatures. They work in front and top loaders.
Because SoapNuts are chemical free they are an excellent product for washing children's clothing and cloth nappies. Also a great product to use if you suffer from eczema or sensitive skin.

This particular product matches the following critera (click on each to see other products matching the same):
Recycling has many benefits like saving energy, conserving raw materials, reducing the amount of stuff that goes to landfills and it's also saving you money. 2.5 Million Tons of waste go to landfills each year (8kg per person/week) 3/4 could be saved by re-using, recycling and composting. Re-duce, Re-use, Re-cycle!
Many people suffer from allergies, asthma and other sensitivities because of products that contain toxins or otherwise harmful ingredients. Most of these products are used inside the house eg. for cleaning, as body care products, as a detergent and so on. We try to source products that are mostly natural and do not cause any harm to you or your environment.
What is the difference? Compostable materials provide the earth with nutrients once it has completely broken down. Biodegradable materials refer to the ability of breaking down and return to nature. Buying products that are compostable and/or biodegradable will help to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfills.
At the beginning of most production chains are the workers and farmers (producers). Sadly they do not always get a fair share of the benefits of the trade. You as a consumer can now make a conscious decision about buying fairtrade or fairly traded products and putting this right.

Magic beans
Years ago, I was at my friend's house and he had two small children, so I was helping hang out the wet laundry. In the washing machine was this little bag of damp dried nuts. I told him the kids must have left one of their treasues in their pockets, but he told me this was actually how they did their washing. I thought he was crazy. However, a few moons passed and I tried soapnuts for myself. Now I think people who use perfumes and powders are crazy. Soapnuts are so simple, compostable, and clean. The clothes feel just really clean. I'm a mountain biker and I colour my hair and they deal with semi-permanent hair dye and mud really well. These soapnuts from evowarehouse were perfect. Dry and plump. I put them in glass jars or they get sticky. But I love them. Well worth buying. And they really do last as long as it says on the box.
