A silicone lid with a built-in airlock valve that fits over a standard wide-mouth glass jar. It allows CO2 produced during fermentation to escape while preventing oxygen from entering — the key to successful, mould-free lacto-fermentation.
It's designed for standard wide-mouth glass jars — check the product listing for specific jar size compatibility.
Sauerkraut, kimchi, fermented vegetables, kombucha, water kefir, and other lacto-fermented foods and drinks.
A regular sealed lid can cause pressure buildup that leads to exploding jars or CO2-saturated ferments. An airlock releases the pressure safely while still preventing oxygen from entering.
For solid vegetable ferments (sauerkraut, kimchi), a glass fermentation weight to keep vegetables submerged below the brine is recommended alongside the airlock lid. EcoWarehouse stocks fermentation weights separately.
